I completely agree! I spent hours searching Google and Etsy to find yarnmakers who produce their own yarn -- preferably local in as many areas as possible (wool from local sheep, dyeing locally, spinning locally).
I need to write up my results, but it was great fun to do the research. Knowing that my yarn comes from a real person who raised the sheep, or handdyed the skein, makes such a difference.
It's a whole new level of enjoyment.
