Joey's check up at the vet today went well, back in ten days to get the sutures out. In the meantime, I have been left alone with the cat, who will only eat or drink if it is from a spoon. And only then if it is the special canned cat food or water mixed with it. Maybe a bit of tuna water mixed with it is ok. Anything else in it and he won't eat it (but will eat my garlic plants, go figure).
He is becoming quite vocal again, and sits and watches the crows and seagulls.
